The history of Fuse is closely linked to that of La Démence, Brussels' biggest gay party. It started as a party in West Flanders and has now turned into one of the biggest gay parties in the world: La Démence. The grande dame of the gay circuit is celebrating its 35th anniversary with a four-day dance marathon at Fuse, where the party has been held since 1992, and the ING Arena. How did La Démence become such a global success story? The secret could be a casual and accessible way of gay clubbing with a touch of Brussels. “As a young gay man, I thought La Démence was sodom and gomorrah, but once I dared to take the plunge, it turned out to be a witty party with something for everyone,” says loyal visitor Lander Piccart.
