Boom Boom by Belgian photographer Jente Waerzeggers offers a unique glimpse into his work at night over recent years. In this book, Waerzeggers explores his deep fascination with self-expression in all its possible forms. Clothing, make-up, tattoos, piercings, hairstyles and accessories all reveal something about the individual. Presented as a series, the images reflect contemporary nightlife culture. 

As an integral part of the nightclub’s scenography, the dancer becomes a body of symbols. Waerzeggers’ photographs are filled with bootlegged corporate logos, wordplay, subversion and references to pop culture. Waerzeggers builds a relationship with his subjects that is entirely mutual. He documents while participating, and his subjects want to be seen. The night is dark and not easily captured, but Boom Boom succeeds remarkably well in doing so.
